At the northern end of town is the large Litang Chode Gompa, a Tibetan lamasery, built fir the third Dalai Lama. Inside is a statue of Sakyamuni that is believed to have been carried from Lhasa by foot. Tibetan homes lead up to the lamasery and is possible to encounter very friendly monk en route...
