The Lijiang old town has a history going back more than 800 years and was once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road. In the evening all the red light´s give a great spectacle to our eyes.
The Lijiang old town is famous for its orderly system of waterways and bridges. It has been called the "Venice of east2, with the difference that the canals are colored in red... the Chinese red fish.
The picturesque Black Dragon Pool park, also known as HeilongtanGongyuan in Chinese, lies to the north of the old town. In its waters the YulongXueshan (Jade Dragon Snow mountain) mountain is reflected.
Lijiang is set in a beautiful valley and is one of the most attractive parts of Yunnan province. It is considered to be a pearl on the high plateau of Northwestern Yunnan Province, and is regarded as the world of Shangri-La which people yearn to visit. Boasting of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the precipitous Tiger-Leaping Gorge, Lijiang is also surrounded by the Gold Sand River and dotted with various green lakes. Lijiang is home to the Naxi people, one of Chinese many minorities matriarchal culture originating from Tibet. There we can spent a very nice time, wondering around the fantastic old town, visiting great park´s or eating nice naxi food.
Coming from Baishuitai, this is the first view of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Yangzi river surges between HabaShan and YulongXueshan, through one of the deepest gorges in the world.
The inhabitants of the gorge are primarily the indigenous Naxi. Using the fields as the way of living, the happiness is always present in this fantastic scenery.
"The entire gorge measures 16 km, and it´s a giddy 3900 m from the waters to snow capped mountaintops". Hiking through the gorge is possible and is amazing... The road is well-maintained and is used by the Naxi as part of everyday life.
