monks festival - litang - nov 2006
Lamas are believe to be reincarnations of highly evolved beings. Dalai Lama is the supreme patriarch of Tibetan Buddhism. We have been taken by a local to the presence of the seven lama, who was born in Litang, and is usually a presence in this festival. It was such a different experience being blessed for maybe the oldest Lama.

The Tibetan Buddhism, also practiced here, is more mystical than the other forms of Buddhism, and it relies heavily on mudras, mantras, yantras and secret initiations rites, like the sky burial. It´s amazing being here!

CHINA - Sichuan - Litang (理塘)
Arrive to Litang from Kanding was a very hard trip. At almost 5000 m high, passing through beautiful landscapes, with snow mountains, in a little local bus, completely, and extremely full of friendly people... Just 10 hours ridding! So nice!
"Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and resting on open grassland at an altitude of 4014 m, Litang will leave you breathless in more ways than one . Tibetan culture abounds here. Markets are filled with yak-skin coats, wooden and silver teacups and brightly colored woven cloth. Tashi delek, the Tibetan greeting, is more commonly used than Ni hao and traditional stone and dirt homes painted is a multitude of psychedelic colours fill the northern half of town. Litang as a fantastically relaxed and friendly atmosphere."
